Each Day Institute program track is specifically designed to maximize an individual's
independence and abilities. The treatment team works with each participant and family
to develop an intensive rehabilitation program individualized to their needs. The
program focuses on physical, cognitive, communicative, interpersonal, self-care,
behavioral and psychological changes that occur after an illness or injury. Also
important is practicing community reentry skills and addressing prevocational needs,
school reentry, and issues related to return to driving. Each program is designed
to use and build strengths to correct current deficits and teach compensatory strategies.
Neurological Rehabilitation Program
This track is designed for individuals who have suffered brain injury, spinal cord
injury or stroke. Treatment focuses on maximizing mobility, self-care, and cognitive
and communicative abilities at home and in the community.
Clients participate in daily physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions,
as indicated by their individual deficits. Therapeutic recreation also is a component
of this program. It is designed to utilize an individual's therapy goals during
their participation in recreational and community reintegration activities, thereby
maximizing the therapeutic value of their day. Home evaluations, vocational resources
and school reentry assistance also are available.
