SSM Rehabilitation Hospital offers specialized rehabilitation and medical
care through the Center for Neurological Recovery for individuals with:
- Stroke
- A variety of complications of stroke, including spasticity,
bladder dysfunction, nutritional issues, gait impairment and cognitive deficit
- Other neurological conditions, such as Multiple Sclerosis,
Parkinson’s disease, Guillain Barre syndrome
The program is designed
to help individuals achieve maximum neurological recovery after stroke and other
neurological disorders. Care is focused on restoring function and
getting every patient back to their life and the things they enjoy.
The Center for Neurological
Recovery is a joint service of SSM Rehabilitation Hospital and Saint Louis University School of Medicine
Department of Neurology that combines medical expertise and innovation with a strong
history of quality patient care and rehabilitation therapies.
Referral and Admission
Patients can be referred to the Center
for Neurological Recovery by a physician. All patients meet with and are assessed
by an intake coordinator to discuss the program, address questions, and determine
appropriateness of admission.
Staff
The Center for Neurological Recovery is
staffed by physicians and faculty in the Department of Neurology at Saint Louis
University School Medicine, and SSM Rehabilitation Hospital nurses, therapists and other clinical
staff with specialized skills in neurological rehabilitation.
