SSM Physical Therapy’s Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program offers a therapeutic treatment option for
men and women for bladder and bowel control. Our program specializes in the treatment
of stress and urge urinary incontinence, the most common pelvic floor muscle control
problems.
- Stress incontinence
is leakage during normal activity, such as laughing, exercising, coughing, sneezing
or other activities that put pressure on the bladder.
- Urge incontinence occurs when the brain tells the bladder to empty, often
when only a small amount of urine is present.
What we do
The Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation Program is staffed by physical therapists specially trained
to retrain and strengthen muscles through such methods as strengthening exercises,
muscle training, biofeedback and electrical stimulation, as well as modify diet
and routine to improve incontinence.
We can help
Our program is designed to accommodate adults who feel that incontinence is limiting
their lifestyle. Incontinence affects women and men alike, including active athletic
women, new mothers, post-surgical men and women, and older adults.
Incontinence is highly treatable and more common than one might think.
