Work Injury Management 

SSM Physical Therapy's Work Injury Management Program is designed to assist employees and employers with injury management. Injured employees are often unable to perform critical job tasks required to return to work full-time/full-duty. SSM Physical Therapy Work Injury Management Program's philosophy is to treat the patient as an "industrial athlete" with emphasis on functional treatment and the goal of expeditious and safe return to work.

SSM Physical Therapy provides the following services for work injuries:

• Acute Physical Therapy
• Work Conditioning
• Job Simulation Evaluation (JSE) 
• Work Hardening
• Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)
• Post Offer Placement Testing
• Job Site Analysis
• Ergonomic Consulting and Education

Acute Physical Therapy

• Patient Education: Posture, Ergonomics, Home Exercise Plan
• Symptom Management
• Range of Motion
• Strengthening

Work Conditioning

• Individualized Strengthening/Conditioning
• Functional Strengthening
• 1-2 hours/day
• 3-5 days/week
• Appropriate for employee on restricted duty or out of work.

Work Hardening

• Functional Strengthening/Conditioning to return to work
• Individualized Simulated Work Activities to improve employability
• 2-4 hours/day
• 3-5 days/week
• Appropriate for employee out of work

Job Simulation Evaluation (JSE)

• Assist physician/employer to determine work restrictions/ability to return to work
• Acute injury service
• One-hour evaluation of client's capacity to perform essential job functions

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE)

• Assist employer/physician to determine current and potential vocational status
• Chronic injury service
• Medical/Legal
• Four-hour evaluation

Post-Offer, Pre-Placement Testing

• To determine if individuals can perform the essential functions of a particular job
• Customized to meet the needs of the employer

• Repetitive/overuse injuries
• Work-related trauma injuries
• Work-related chronic injuries
• Employers interested in preventive injury programs for employees
